Xintara is based in Sintra which is 30km north of Lisbon. The estate is made up of 2 properties, Sao Bento and Matalva, that have been owned by the Bryers family since 1981. Initially a monastery, they have been lovingly restored to a high specification.

Sao Bento, with its sturdy walls, stone floors and vaulted ceilings, epitomise the ambiance and history of this former monastic retreat.  Lovingly restored over the last 20 years, the owners have ensured that the Quinta is maintained to the highest standards of comfort, whilst respecting and retaining its heritage.  The Quinta is imbued with a special charm, blending traditional Portuguese antiques with European paintings and Asian ceramics.

Matalva has been beautifully restored in a traditional Portuguese, comfortably decorated with plenty of space to relax and come together.  A covered colonnade connects Matalva house and Matalva cottage.  The cottage offers a large open space for yoga, group meditations, workshops and more.

The private estate has two large terraces, perfect for outside dining, with unrestricted views of the forest, Monserrate palace and the sea in the distance.  There are two pools, one heated and one fresh.  There is a large garden to explore with Birds of Paradise, Orange Trees and Avocado Tress, amongst other species of plants.

Combined the estate sleeps up to 20 people.
